Spearhead vs. Innebandy!Co

Final Score: 0-5

Match Review: It was a tough match for SFC as they only had 2 lines to play with. Moreover, many of their key players were not present. With only 2 full lines to play with and with majority of them playing their first competitive league match, it was a true test of character and desire to push themselves. Innebandy!Co was a formidable opponent, playing with 2 lines; 1 being an all-boys line that seemed less experience and the other, an all-girls line being the more experienced and power line.

The first period was a good head to head match between the two teams. SFC looked pretty solid at the back in spite of the lack in experience. But towards the end of the first period, Innebandy!Co sealed a comfortable 2-0 lead. The second period saw a change in SFC goalkeeper, Syamim was substituted by Avinaash (no. 99). SFC took a dip in concentration in the second period which cost them quite a heavy blow. Innebandy!Co slot in 3 more goals in the second period. Innebandy covered well at the rink boards and centre zone, making it hard for SFC to bypass their own half, which in turn, created more attacking chances for them.

Coach's Thoughts: Although we lost, I am happy with the team's performance. It was considerably a good first match for the team, especially the first period, considering the fact we were without key players. While tactical and skills are important to form a good winning team, at this point, SFC Division 2 team needs to work on team unity. Being a new and young team, there is a lack in team morale. The team needs to learn to encourage, cheer and keep each other motivated especially when it matters most - when we're losing. We are a team. We need to work together to keep each other's spirit motivated.

Man of the Match: Amanda Loh

Man of the Match: Amanda Loh (left). Despite being her first outing in PFL, her confidence was high. Very calm and compose with the ball, solid in going for 50/50 ball against her opponents, and while she lacks in experience she compensated that with her alertness and awareness on court. Yes, there were mistakes but she maintained her focus very well throughout the 2 periods and did not allow her mistakes to dictate her game play.

Well done! :)
